Position Summary
The Assistant Superintendent supports the successful delivery of construction projects by assisting in daily on-site operations, ensuring safety compliance, maintaining quality standards, and keeping projects on schedule. The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Superintendent and Project Manager to ensure smooth project delivery and strong communication across all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Superintendent in managing all on-site construction activities to ensure safety, schedule, and quality standards are met.
- Support coordination among subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and field personnel.
- Help plan and organize daily site operations, including manpower, equipment, and material deliveries.
- Monitor progress and report daily activities, including photos and field documentation, using company software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam).
- Participate in site safety inspections and meetings; promote a culture of safety and accountability.
- Review drawings and specifications to understand project scope and identify potential field issues.
- Help manage site logistics such as deliveries, storage, and site access to maintain efficient workflow.
- Assist in tracking and verifying subcontractor performance to ensure adherence to schedule and quality expectations.
- Support the Superintendent and Project Manager in maintaining project schedules, quality control, and punch list completion.
- Communicate regularly with field teams, subcontractors, and project leadership to support overall project objectives.
- Contribute to a positive team culture and maintain strong working relationships with all project participants.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience accepted.
- 3 years of experience in commercial or industrial construction, with prior experience as a Field Engineer or Assistant Superintendent preferred.
- Working knowledge of construction means and methods, building systems, and safety standards.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
- Proficiency in construction management platforms such as Procore, MS Project, and Bluebeam.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for short-term site visits.
