Position Overview
This role supports the engineering and manufacturing of aerospace components, with a focus on composites, production readiness, and cross-functional collaboration. The position works closely with design, quality, and operations teams to ensure products move efficiently from concept through production while meeting strict industry requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Production Support
- Provide technical support throughout the build of aerospace components, including reviewing designs, selecting materials, evaluating tolerances, and ensuring manufacturability.
- Convert customer specifications and drawings into clear manufacturing plans, work instructions, and inspection requirements.
- Assist with prototype development, design iterations, and scaling into full production.
Composites & Process Development
- Utilize experience with composite materials, including resins, layup processes, curing techniques, bonding, machining, and assembly.
- Establish and document process parameters to drive consistency and product quality.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to introduce new materials, tooling, and technologies.
Manufacturing Optimization
- Support process development, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and throughput.
- Investigate production challenges, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Create and maintain manufacturing documentation and standard work.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to aerospace standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Support inspection processes and disposition of nonconforming material.
- Participate in audits and help resolve any findings.
Program Support
- Contribute to project planning, including risk assessments, cost estimates, and lead time evaluations.
- Assist with new product introductions and transitioning programs into production.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace, or a related discipline.
Experience
- 5–7 years of experience in aerospace or advanced composites within a manufacturing setting.
- Background supporting hardware through build, inspection, and delivery cycles.
- Exposure to defense-related programs is a plus.
- Any experience in customer-facing or technical sales environments is beneficial but not required.
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with aerospace quality systems (e.g., AS9100) and regulatory requirements such as ITAR.
- Experience working with CAD models (CATIA preferred).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience generating technical documentation and reports.
