What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Planning Manager position at Enginuity Advantage?
Why You'll Love This Role
If you're energized by building systems, leading people, and bringing clarity to complex manufacturing environments, this role was designed for you.
As the Production Planning Manager, you'll step into a highly visible leadership position where your work directly impacts delivery, efficiency, and growth. You won't be inheriting a rigid, "this-is-how-it's-always-been-done" operation—instead, you'll have the opportunity to shape planning processes, develop a high-performing team, and influence how large, custom projects come to life.
You'll collaborate closely with Engineering, Projects, Procurement, and Production, acting as the connective tissue that turns plans into execution. For someone who thrives in fast-paced, engineer-to-order manufacturing and enjoys improving systems from the ground up, this is a chance to make a real mark.
The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Production Planning Manager to lead work order planning across a complex manufacturing operation producing large, custom metal structures.
In this role, you'll manage and develop a team of planners while ensuring that production planning processes support efficient execution, accurate scheduling, and scalable growth. You'll serve as a key cross-functional partner, ensuring alignment and data integrity within the ERP system and across departments.
This is both a hands-on leadership role and a strategic one—balancing day-to-day execution with long-term process improvement.

Oversee the creation and release of work orders in the ERP system to support production needs
Ensure routing templates align with actual production practices and capacity constraints

Leadership & Team Development
Lead, coach, and develop the production planning team
Promote accountability, cross-training, and skill development to ensure continuity and resilience
Set priorities, manage workloads, and provide clear expectations and performance feedback
Process Improvement & Governance
Track and approve routing updates driven by shop floor changes or continuous improvement initiatives
Establish, document, and enforce production planning policies and standard work
Develop KPIs that align planning performance with project schedules and operational goals
