We prioritize safety, uptime, and continuous improvement, and we’re looking for a Controls Technician who can help keep our operation running at peak performance.

This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and focused on classic industrial controls — no robotics.

Position Overview

We’re looking for a skilled Controls Technician to support the electrical and controls systems that keep our production lines running safely and reliably. This role focuses on troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving power circuits, control circuits, instrumentation, and automation equipment across the facility.

This is a hands‑on, hourly role for someone strong in electrical troubleshooting and comfortable navigating PLCs for diagnostics (no programming required).

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems up to 480V
  • Diagnose and repair control circuits, safety circuits, relays, and field devices
  • Navigate PLC programs for troubleshooting (online monitoring, fault tracing, cross‑referencing)
  • Troubleshoot and replace VFDs, sensors, encoders, and instrumentation
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical and controls equipment
  • Maintain and update electrical schematics and documentation
  • Support production teams during downtime events
  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams
  • Follow all electrical safety and lockout/tagout procedures

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong electrical troubleshooting experience in an industrial environment
  • Ability to safely work on 480V systems
  • Experience with VFDs, instrumentation, and motor control circuits
  • Ability to go online with PLCs for diagnostics (no programming required)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Understanding of safety circuits and basic troubleshooting
  • Solid communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Education

  • Two‑year technical degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance Technology, Mechatronics, or Automation/Controls Technology
  • Completion of a state‑recognized electrical apprenticeship
  • Military electrical/technical training

Preferred Experience

  • 3 years in an industrial maintenance or electrical role
  • Experience with Allen‑Bradley hardware (PLC‑5, SLC, CompactLogix, ControlLogix) for online diagnostics
  • Hands‑on experience with VFDs, sensors, and instrumentation
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70E and industrial electrical safety practices
  • Experience reading and updating electrical schematics
  • Experience in continuous‑process manufacturing

Why Join Us

  • Stable, growing operation
  • Strong internal support from maintenance and engineering
  • Clear advancement path into Senior Controls Technician or Engineering Tech roles
  • Competitive pay aligned with top mechanical and electrical roles in the facility
  • Exposure to analog troubleshooting (4–20 mA loops, scaling, noise issues)
  • Experience with system level diagnostics across mechanical/electrical/controls boundaries

Why This Role Matters:

  • Provides technical leadership within the maintenance team
  • Strengthens uptime and reliability across production lines
  • Leads the line-level electrical/controls aspects of new projects
  • Help develop junior technicians and elevate team capability
  • Ensures proper documentation, system design standards, and long-term reliability
