POSITION SUMMARY
Position: Safety Lead
Reports to: Director of Operational Excellence
Location: Greenville, SC
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Safety Lead will be responsible for ensuring the safety and health of all employees by developing, implementing, and monitoring safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role requires a proactive approach to prevent workplace accidents and ensure a culture of safety throughout the organization.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Design, implement, and continuously improve safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for all employees, including new hire orientation, annual refresher courses, and specific training for high-risk areas.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure training materials are current.
- Lead investigations into safety incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit necessary reports to regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
- Promote a positive safety culture by engaging with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Lead safety committee meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams to address safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, training, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Ensure all safety documentation is up-to-date and accessible for audits and inspections.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, fire drills, and crisis management.
- Train employees on emergency protocols and ensure readiness for various scenarios.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in safety processes and recommend innovative solutions.
- Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics, providing regular reports to senior management.
EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, ASP, OSHA 30-hour) are a plus.
- 5-8 years of experience in a safety management role, preferably in [industry-specific experience, e.g., manufacturing, construction, or industrial settings].
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other safety standards.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience delivering training and presentations.
- Proven track record in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role may require travel to various company locations and sites, and the position may involve working in both office and manufacturing environments.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina. Must be able to lift 50 or more pounds at a time.
Salary : $95,000 - $110,000
