Job Summary

The Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and contractors involved in utility-scale energy projects. This role will involve the development, implementation, and oversight of safety protocols, policies, and procedures across various project sites. The Safety Manager will collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to minimize risk, comply with regulations, and foster a safety-first culture in all phases of the energy project lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities

Safety Program Development & Implementation

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies in line with industry standards, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Work closely with project teams to ensure safety requirements are met from the planning phases through to project completion.

Safety Training & Awareness

  • Design and deliver safety training programs for all project personnel, including new hires, subcontractors, and project-specific teams.
  • Ensure that all staff are aware of safety standards, emergency procedures, and any project-specific risks or hazards.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, toolbox talks, and drills to reinforce safety practices.

Incident Management & Reporting

  • Oversee the reporting and investigation of all workplace accidents, incidents, or near misses.
  • Ensure that incident investigations are thorough and corrective actions are taken to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and report incidents to regulatory bodies as required.

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state/local safety regulations, and industry-specific standards, including those related to energy and construction projects.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Stay current with changes in safety regulations and best practices relevant to utility-scale energy projects.

Safety Culture & Continuous Improvement

  • Foster a proactive safety culture that prioritizes worker health and safety in all aspects of project work.
  • Work collaboratively with leadership and team members to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous safety performance improvements.
  • Review and assess safety performance metrics regularly and report findings to senior management.

Risk Mitigation & Emergency Preparedness

  • Identify safety hazards and implement strategies to mitigate risks on energy project sites.
  • Develop and enforce emergency response plans for various potential emergencies, including fires, natural disasters, electrical accidents, etc.
  • Ensure emergency equipment and procedures are in place, well-maintained, and regularly tested.


Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (Preferred).
  • 5 years of professional experience in safety management, with a focus on energy, construction, or industrial projects (utility-scale energy projects preferred).
  • Proven track record in managing safety for large, complex projects.
  • Solar, BESS, or wind power project experience (Preferred).
  • Willingness to travel 100% of the time.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (MS Projects, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), Bluebeam, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Certifications in safety management (CSP, CHST, EHS, HAZWOPER, NFPA 70E, etc.).
  • Safety trained for field work (OSHA 30).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.


***NOTE: While the corporate office is located in Las Vegas, Nevada, this position requires applicants to be open to travel in different parts of the United States as the scope of work for this position occurs onsite at the different project locations.***
