Job Description

 Supervisor of Maintenance, Facilities, and Energy Management

Reports to: Director of Maintenance and Facilities   Dept/School: Maintenance & Facilities

 

Work Days: 227                                                          Pay Grade: 5

 

Primary Purpose:

Assist in planning, directing, and managing the district’s maintenance, facilities, and energy management operations, including Construction, Capital Outlay, Preventive Maintenance Schedules, Asset Replacement Cycles, and Energy Efficiency Programs. Ensure safe, efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective management of district buildings, grounds, and systems while supporting the educational mission of the school district, with particular oversight of middle school and high school campuses.

 

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, energy management, business administration, or related field (preferred).

 - Valid Texas driver’s license.

- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or equivalent credential (preferred).

Special Knowledge/Skills:

- Knowledge of construction, maintenance, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, custodial, and energy          systems operations.

 - Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

- Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and regulations.

- Ability to analyze energy data and implement cost-saving measures.

- Proficiency in energy management software and building automation systems (BAS).

- Ability to manage budgets and supervise personnel.

 

Experience:

- Five (5) years of experience in facilities, maintenance, or energy management operations, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory role.

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties Management:

Including but not limited to:

-Assist Director(s) in supervising district maintenance, custodial, grounds, and energy management operations.

-Provide direct oversight and coordination of maintenance services for middle schools and high schools to ensure safe, fully functional learning environments.  Occasional assistance at the elementary level may be required.  

-Collaborate with principals and campus leaders to address facility needs unique to secondary schools, including athletic facilities, science labs, fine arts areas, cafeterias, and auditoriums.

-Prioritize and assign work orders to ensure efficient response to campus and department needs.

-Monitor and inspect work for quality, safety, and compliance with district standards.

-Oversee performance of energy systems, ensuring proper operation and optimal efficiency of HVAC, lighting, and mechanical systems.

 

Energy Management:

-Develop, implement, and monitor the district’s energy conservation and sustainability programs.

-Conduct regular energy audits to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements in building performance.

-Track and analyze utility usage and costs; prepare reports on energy performance and savings. Coordinate maintenance and upgrades of energy control systems and BAS to optimize efficiency.

-Promote energy awareness among staff, students, and administrators through education and outreach programs.

-Collaborate with vendors, engineers, and utility providers to identify rebates, grants, and cost-reduction opportunities.

-Ensure compliance with state and federal energy reporting and sustainability requirements.

 

Budget and Inventory:

-Assist in preparing and managing budgets for maintenance, facilities, and energy operations. Oversee procurement and inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment.

-Track middle school and high school facility-related expenditures for accountability.

-Evaluate cost-effectiveness of maintenance and energy-saving projects.

 

Planning and Construction:

-Support facility improvement projects, renovations, and new construction with emphasis on energy efficiency and sustainability.

-Coordinate with principals on long-range facility and energy planning for athletics, fine arts, CTE programs, and other secondary-level needs.

-Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure energy-efficient design and construction standards are met.

 

Personnel:

-Supervise and evaluate staff assigned to middle schools and high school facilities.

-Provide training and professional development for employees, emphasizing energy-efficient maintenance and operations practices.

 

Safety and Compliance:

-Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local codes, regulations, and safety standards.

-Oversee emergency response and preparedness for middle school and high school facilities, including athletic events and extracurricular activities.

-Promote and enforce district safety and environmental policies.

 

Working Conditions:

Frequent districtwide travel. Work around machinery, mechanical equipment, and noise. Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasionally lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs). Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, sometimes in inclement weather.

 

Evaluation:

Performance will be evaluated according to established district policies and administrative procedures

Salary : $80,987 - $114,161
