Energy Management Corporation (EMC) is looking for a motivated Apprentice Mechanic / Shop Helper to join our electric motor repair team in Pomona, CA. What You’ll Do
As an apprentice, you will work alongside experienced mechanics while learning safe, effective repair practices:
- Assist with the disassembly, inspection, and rebuild of AC and DC electric motors
- Help diagnose basic mechanical and electrical issues under supervision
- Support cleaning, measuring, and documenting motor components
- Learn to use shop tools and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers
- Assist with motor testing, including megger and basic electrical testing
- Support balancing, bearing replacement, and general repair tasks
- Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards
- Help with loading, unloading, and moving equipment using forklifts or cranes (with training)
- Occasionally assist with field service work as skills develop
We are seeking someone dependable, eager to learn, and committed to craftsmanship:
- Must have your own basic set of tools
- Mechanical aptitude or prior shop/industrial experience preferred but not required
- Basic understanding of tools, machinery, or electrical concepts is a plus
- Willingness to learn electrical motor theory and repair techniques
- Ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team
- Strong attention to safety, quality, and detail
- Good attitude, work ethic, and reliability
- Valid driver’s license
This is a hands-on shop position that requires:
- Standing, walking, and working with tools for extended periods
- Lifting up to 50 lbs
- Wearing required PPE and following all safety procedures
