Summary:
The Login Technician is responsible for cooperating with the strategic plan of the organization, sample receipt, login preparation, client support, shipping, supply inventory, and courier coordination. This role ensures that samples are received, verified, and made available for testing in a timely and accurate manner. Additionally, the position ensures proper shipment of supplies and sampling kits to clients as required.
Essential Functions:
- Receive and process incoming shipments. (e.g., UPS, FedEx).
- Assist walk-in clients with sample drop-off and bottle requests.
- Triage received samples, accept Chain of Custody (COC) documentation, and prioritize coolers for processing.
- Prepare samples for login by verifying sample I, date/time, containers, pH, and preservation methods.
- Document sample delivery groups, including photographic records.
- Maintain and restock sample related supplies (e.g., preservatives, containers, forms).
- Answer phones and assist clients with inquiries.
- Prepare and ship sampling kits and bottle orders to clients.
- Coordinate inter-laboratory sample shipments.
- Perform data entry tasks as assigned.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
- Other responsibilities as assigned to support department operations.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or a related science field is preferred. A High School diploma or GED may be acceptable with relevant experience.
- Experience in a laboratory or sample-handling environment is beneficial.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Skilled in Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting with strong multitasking and time management abilities.
- High level of interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive or confidential matters with professionalism.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of standard laboratory sample processing techniques and procedures.
- Ability to read and follow SOPs, safety manuals, and regulatory documents.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for client interaction and documentation.
- Basic mathematical competency for routine calculations.
- Ability to interpret and carry out written, oral, and diagrammatic instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Certifications, Licenses:
- Must attend job-related and industry specific training as requested.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and verbally communicate in a clear and professional manner.
- Must be able to operate standard laboratory and office equipment safely and effectively.
- Requires visual acuity, including close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus for detained laboratory tasks.
- Must have the physical stamina to stand or remain on feet for extended periods of time, as required by laboratory procedures.
- Occasionally required to lift, carry, move, or position materials and equipment weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
Working Environment:
This role requires work in both a laboratory and office setting. You will encounter samples which may contain blood, bodily fluids, chemicals, fumes, gases, and unpleasant odors.
