We’re hiring a Senior IT Systems Administrator for a 6-month contract-to-hire role supporting a client’s IT infrastructure. This is a hands-on position working closely with the Director of IT to manage systems, strengthen security, and assist with cloud migration. Ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of critical systems and processes while collaborating on strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead vulnerability management across Windows, Linux, and Mac environments, including scanning, remediation, and reporting.
- Administer and secure Active Directory following CIS benchmarks.
- Configure monitoring and alerting for Windows, Linux, VMware, and Azure.
- Manage TrueNAS storage systems and Linux server administration.
- Support backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
- Enforce least-privilege access and Zero Trust principles.
- Administer file storage platforms (Box, Google Drive) and reporting.
- Share duties for Endpoint Detection and Response.
- Support Microsoft 365, Azure, and assist with mail migration to Exchange Online.
- Participate in hybrid Entra/Azure AD migration.
- Provide networking support for Cisco switches, routers, and firewalls (Firepower preferred).
- Assist with Security Awareness Training and telephony systems (Cisco Call Manager/Webex).
- Apply NIST 800-171 security practices; familiarity with CMMC is a plus.
- Help draft IT policies and technical documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field preferred; 5–7 years of experience in IT administration for mid-sized environments (100 users, mixed OS).
- Strong experience with patching/remediation workflows and vulnerability scanners (OpenVAS, Nessus).
- Skilled in Active Directory, Linux administration, Windows servers, and endpoint security.
- Familiarity with TrueNAS, M365, Azure, and hybrid cloud environments.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools (Nagios, CheckMK or similar).
- Networking experience with Cisco routing/switching and firewalls.
- Understanding of NIST frameworks and compliance requirements.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.

- CompTIA Security , Linux , Network
- Cisco CCNA or hands-on networking experience
- VMware VCP or ESXi experience
- ISC2 SSCP or CISSP interest
