Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their appointment details, and assist with check-in procedures using Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification processes for Medicare, Medicaid, and private payers.
- Collect and review patient documentation, including medical histories, consent forms, and care plans, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Maintain organized medical records, ensuring accurate filing of electronic health records (EHR) and paper documents in accordance with health information management standards.
- Support clinical staff by preparing charts, managing supply inventories, and assisting with patient intake processes.
- Handle administrative tasks such as data entry, typing reports with 10-key accuracy, filing documents, and managing electronic health records (EHR) system
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative role; clinic or dental office experience is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and health insurance procedures including Medicare and Medicaid billing.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Elation; experience with electronic health records management is essential.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with effective communication abilities.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and basic computer skills for documentation review and data entry.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure patient privacy at all times.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with experience in medical scheduling, insurance verification, filing systems, and office management practices.
