Job Title: IT Networking Intern (Summer)

Position Overview
We are seeking motivated IT Networking Interns to support our infrastructure team with hands-on configuration and deployment of network equipment. This role provides real-world experience in enterprise networking, including installing wireless access points, deploying network switches, and assisting with cabling and troubleshooting.
This is an ideal opportunity for students pursuing degrees in Information Technology, Networking, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field who want practical, field-based experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with installation and mounting of wireless access points (APs)
- Rack, stack, and install network switches
- Support structured cabling efforts (labeling, patching, and cable management)
- Perform basic network device configuration under supervision
- Assist with troubleshooting connectivity and hardware issues
- Document installations, configurations, and site updates
- Follow safety procedures when working on ladders
- Collaborate with engineers and project teams on deployment activities
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in IT, Networking, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (IP addressing, switching, wireless fundamentals)
- Willingness to perform hands-on physical work in a field environment
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when installing equipment
- Ability to lift and carry equipment (up to ~35 lbs)
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Reliable transportation to job site in the Pittsburgh area
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with enterprise networking equipment (e.g., Cisco Systems)
- Basic knowledge of network cabling standards (Cat6, fiber)
- Interest in pursuing networking certifications (e.g., CCNA)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, and use of ladders
- Work in office, data center, and construction/installation environments
- Ability to lift, carry, and install equipment up to ~35 lbs
