Midland Credit Management is seeking an experienced attorney to act as Senior Corporate Counsel, serving as a legal partner to the business in the drafting and negotiation of various commercial contracts. The Corporate Counsel will provide legal support and advice to internal clients on a broad range of issues, including general corporate matters, risk management, data protection and privacy, real estate and intellectual property. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment in complex situations, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate confidently and clearly with business clients. Responsibilities Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, software licenses, SAAS agreements, asset purchase agreements, services agreements, data protection agreements, equipment leases and real property leases. Provide advice to the business on legal matters, including contract interpretation and enforcement, risk assessment, legal and regulatory compliance and corporate policies. Provide advice to the business on data privacy law matters. Assist with corporate governance matters. Assist with the creation and maintenance of policies and procedures for the legal department. Maintain current knowledge of the law in matters of interest to the company. Perform selected assignments and other responsibilities as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: Master's or Advanced FIELD OF STUDY: JD from accredited law school EXPERIENCE: At least 8 years of experience as a corporate attorney handling commercial contracts (with at least two years at a law firm). CERTIFICATION(S): State Bar membership in one or more states KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES: Strong communication, advocacy, and negotiation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to review, understand, analyze, and interpret complex legal agreements. Contract drafting and negotiating experience required. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Excellent organizational and analytical skills required. Ability to work collaboratively and independently. Ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment. Language Required: English ​Preferred Qualifications EDUCATION: Master's or Advanced EXPERIENCE: Prior experience in both law firms and corporate settings; prior experience in the collections / financial industry. CERTIFICATION(S): California State Bar membership KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES: Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
