Position: Pediatric Physical Therapist (Early Supports/Birth-3) (ESIT)

• $78,936 - $114,275 annually* depending on experience and hours/week ($37.95 - $54.94 per hour)

Join the Encompass Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) team serving children from birth to three through in-home, family-centered early support services.

Our ESIT (Early Support for Infants and Toddlers) Team is hiring a Physical Therapist to work with children birth to three and their families! Join our team of providers and our mission as we partner with families to build healthy foundations and a community where all children thrive.

You will be joining a team that is focused on holistic, wrap-around care to meet the critical individual needs of the developing child and support for the family. You will be working with a team of providers offering transdisciplinary care in a community that connects with, encourages, and builds relationships with one another.

Scope: The ESIT Physical Therapist is responsible for the planning and implementation of developmental supports in collaboration with the early supports team and families to support functional development and meaningful participation in daily living and community activities. The physical therapist works with families in the child’s natural environment which may include home, childcare, or other community- based settings using a parent coaching model.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Caseload Management/Record Keeping

• Develop ongoing individualized goals and progress reports
• Complete written daily treatment notes, evaluation reports, and billing in a timely manner
• Review medical reports, make medical referrals, seek consultation as necessary, and maintain accurate records of contact for each child
• Monitor and track caseload requirements with on-going new referrals
• Actively participate in staff development, training opportunities, team meetings, and transdisciplinary coaching
• Maintain high standards of confidentiality, attendance, and flexibility, while working cooperatively with supervisors, other employees, and families.
• Other duties as assigned

 Direct Service/Teamwork

• Provide culturally relevant, family-guided, routine-based developmental supports using a parent coaching model
• As part of an evaluation team, evaluate children across domain areas to determine program eligibility
• Understand and provide guidance on the importance of healthy caregiver-child attachment in child development
• Partner with caregivers in decision making during Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) development, home visits, and transitions
• Connect with team members on a weekly basis and participate in transdisciplinary coaching and consultation as needed
• In cooperation with the Family Resource Coordinator, support with transitions into appropriate school, community, or Encompass programs, support groups, and other services.
• Supervise interns as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program with valid Washington State Licensure
• Pass Washington State DSHS criminal history and background check and FBI fingerprint check if not in state for more than the past 3 years
• Infant and child CPR, first aid, and bloodborne pathogens training within 90 days of hire
• Valid Washington State driver’s license and vehicle insurance

Preferred

• Early Intervention experience
• At least one year of pediatric experience
• Bilingual in English and Spanish

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This is an active job requiring lifting up to 25-30 lbs., frequently squatting, sitting on the floor, and actively working with young children.

Research shows that identifying developmental delays early and providing routines-based supports before age three early support (sometimes known as Early Childhood Intervention, or Part C Early Intervention) can have a lasting impact on a child’s development and long-term outcomes. Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) provides Birth to Three Services that partner with families to support child development through family-centered care in children’s natural environments. Our team works alongside families to address concerns related to eating, sleeping, walking, talking, playing, learning, relationships, motor development, functional mobility, and other areas impacted by developmental delays. Through infant therapy, toddler therapy, in-home therapy, home visits, community-based therapy, and natural environment services, families receive individualized support, parent coaching, and caregiver education designed to build confidence and promote progress in everyday routines. Services may include physical therapy evaluation, participation in the IFSP process, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of pediatric healthcare professionals to ensure children and families receive comprehensive, coordinated support.
