Job Title: Live Events Engineering Lead

Main Purpose:
The Live Event Engineering Lead is responsible for the end-to-end technical execution of live broadcast events at Encompass Digital Media. This role ensures seamless delivery of video, audio, and data across multiple platforms, maintaining the highest standards of quality and reliability. The position leads technical planning, setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting during live productions, working closely with internal teams and external partners.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Lead technical operations for live events, including setup, configuration, and monitoring of broadcast systems.
- Set up and manage processing, conversion, routing, and intercom systems.
- Coordinate with producers, engineers, and vendors to ensure all technical requirements are met.
- Perform quality control (QC) of video and audio signals before and during transmission.
- Implement redundancy and failover strategies to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Provide real-time troubleshooting and escalate issues as needed.
- Work closely with customers to understand their needs for specific events to carry them out as expected.
- Identify gaps in processes and recommend solutions to correct.
- Maintain detailed documentation of workflows, configurations, and event logs.
- Install, repair and maintain equipment associated with broadcast operations.
- Configuration and troubleshooting of computers, servers and IT infrastructure for various broadcast needs.
- Proficiency in the use of various digital test equipment to correct equipment problems.
- Provides users and customers with professional, courteous, and timely technical support.
Experience/Knowledge:
- Proven experience in live broadcast operations
- Proficiency with production equipment including switching, routing, and processing hardware and software.
- Strong understanding of video/audio signal flow and broadcast standards.
- Ability to lead under pressure and make quick decisions during live events.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills across technical and non-technical teams.
Specific Technical Experience:
- In-depth knowledge of baseband video and audio signals and related processing technologies.
- Experience with SDI routers & control systems, changeover switches, AV monitoring, SDI processing hardware (e.g., Up/Down/Cross converters).
- Experience with broadcast control systems.
- Experience with broadcast automation systems.
