Job Summary:
We currently have a full-time Residential Counselor/ Medication Specialist opening at our Casa Pacific site, located in Watsonville. Reporting to the Program Manager the Medication Specialist Counselor will distribute medications primarily when on shift, will audit daily medication logs, transcribe medications, and in general act as lead for medication related duties.
As Residential counselor, duty focus will be the support and assistance to clients in planning and attaining their goals, on the client’s needs related to the housing, physical health, issues of chemical dependency and mental health, stabilization of income, and re-entry back into the community. Services will be delivered with dignity and respect for each individual resident.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Medication Specialist
- Medication related duties prioritized on shift. Work closely with client’s county psychiatrists and nurse liasons for the county, as well as PCP’s and other medical specialists in the community.
- Track and ensure client’s medications are ordered, refills received with the pharmacy to maintain seemless delivery of prescribed medications to client. Ensure injections labs and appointments are completed, including transportation scheduled when needed.
- Establish a close working relationship with residents in the program.
- Monitor and track client’s use of medications; conduct client urine test.
- Communicate with doctors, case managers and other service providers about client status, medication clarification when needed, and any other relevant needs.
- Train new staff in medication procedures, including formal medication training.
- Transport clients to appointments as necessary. .
- May supervise daily activities of clients, including performing support services that assist clients in everyday living skills. This may include supervision of clients' chores, monitoring mealtime activities, conducting social and recreational activities, etc.
- May Complete intake, assessment, and evaluation paperwork with clients.
- Maintain facility cleanliness in accord with residential licensing standards, as well as complete household duties such as shopping for supplies and laundry.
- May maintain clinical charts and complete required paperwork in a timely manner as required by the County, State, and component guidelines.
- May perform clinical duties, which will include individual counseling and facilitating house meetings and groups. Assist clients in crisis situations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field
- Two year demonstrated supervised work experience in related program
- Experience in providing services to populations experiencing mental health issues, co-occurring disorders, or comparable population
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, potentially including one weekend shift
- Ability to work in an intense environment dealing with varied personalities and cultures
- Ability to role model daily living skills in a positive manner
- Demonstrated ability to organize and complete tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid California driver's license and clearance for agency vehicle insurance coverage
- Fingerprinting for licensing, criminal record clearance and necessary physical exams are required
- Demonstrated ability to constructively deal with a high degree of physical and emotional stress
- Bilingual in Spanish and English highly desirable
- Ability to be a team player, maintain effective working relationships and communicate in a respectful and professional manner when dealing with fellow employees, outside agencies and residents
- Ability to maintain and clean, safe and supportive environment
