In this role, you'll partner with Operations and Project teams to support asset reliability, system performance, and electrical engineering standard methodologies. You'll gain hands on experience developing engineering standards and specifications, solving technical challenges, supporting capital projects, and ensuring compliance with electrical codes and industry standards all while learning from industry experts who are invested in your growth and development.

What you will do:

Engineering Services

  • Assist in development and maintenance of electrical equipment specifications, design and construction standards
  • Assist in stewardship for electrical operating/maintenance procedures, commissioning equipment checks and testing requirements
  • Research and/or assist with technical interpretations and guidance regarding standards and codes for Enbridge operations, project groups and other partners
  • Find opportunities and participate in technical analysis and implementation of new technologies
  • Assist in power protection support and coordination/arc flash studies
  • Assist with or provide technical knowledge to drive department initiatives and department development items
  • Assist with or provide technical direction associated with asset health and reliability, asset condition-based maintenance and fleet management

Operations Support

  • Assist with or provide power systems engineering and technical support
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and prepare solutions for electrical issues related to medium and high voltage electrical assets, operating, testing and commissioning
  • Assist with guidance for electrical system/asset reliability, quality and electrical safety support
  • Assist with or provide technical for regional engineers, technical supervisors, contract engineers, and specialists to develop solutions to equipment and process reliability issues
  • Drive development of asset reliability assessment and prioritization to support capital and maintenance budget development activities including Risk Register items supporting Long Range Planning and Forecasting
  • Provide technical mentoring and training to engineers, regional technicians and other support groups
  • Provide technical review for failure analyses and incident investigations

Project Support

  • Support technical design reviews
  • Provide engineering expertise and participate in designs to project managers on capital projects or programs within the region supported
  • Provide technical review and sign off of electrical test results
  • Provide power protective relay commissioning support
  • Decisions made in this role have an impact on existing assets, as well as frame the structure of new projects in the U.S. in areas such as:
    • Revenue and throughput performance
    • New project design decisions
    • Technical standards stewardship
    • Asset failure analysis
    • Quality management
    • Maintenance and reliability of assets
  • Routinely communicates independently with industry peers, vendors, manufacturers, project managers and regional partners including engineers, supervisors and specialists

Who you are:

You have:

  • 2 years of progressive experience in an electrical engineering role along with a bachelor's degree in engineering

You can:

  • Lead efforts to solve complex technical problems and coordinate between departments and teams while also managing multiple assignments to meet established time constraints while managing collaborator expectations

You are:

  • An excellent written and verbal communicator with effective report composition along with the ability to effectively interact with peers, internal partners, vendors and service providers

The following are considered assets:

  • Knowledgeable with regulatory and industry codes/standards, including: NFPA 70, 70E, NESC, IEEE and other applicable standards
  • Knowledge of power systems, power system coordination and modeling. SKM experience is preferred
  • Possess a working level knowledge of the design and operation of liquids pipelines, pump stations, terminal facilities, pipeline hydraulics, and knowledge of related technologies such as mechanical, process control systems and instrumentation
  • Ability to perform power systems studies, apply SKM, and provide power system support for design, maintenance and troubleshooting

Working Conditions:

  • Work performed in typical office environment with scheduled travel and occasional urgent response needs related to investigations or field activities
  • Travel to work locations is expected via driving and flying, with occasional overnights required for incident response and/or technical support of work within the region.
  • Company phone with after hours regional technical support is expected
  • Must be responsive and provide timely quality results appropriate to the corporate risk as a consequence to system incidents or asset performance inputs

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
