In this role, you will provide leadership and direction of a staff of project engineers in the role of oversight of third-party engineering firms to meet company requirements on projects. You will ensure that all pipeline and associated facilities are designed in accordance with all applicable regulations, industry codes and corporate standards.

What you will do :
- Provides leadership to direct reports to define and manage scope, technical requirements, scheduling, cost control, and forecasting for the engineering work for pipeline related projects.
- Works with staff to review and approve engineering, geotechnical investigations, survey and materials proposals, prepare technical evaluations, and recommend to the Pipeline Engineering Manager and Project Manager selections based on technical merit along with cost and schedule.
- Participates in design review meetings with Project Engineers, third party engineering firms, Project Manager, Operations, Integrity and Construction personnel to discuss the scope, design and expected performance as well as resolve unforeseen problems.
- Oversees the Project Engineer's review and selection of optimum routes, sites, or locations for proposed facilities based upon function, cost, quality, safety, environmental concerns, Operations' needs, construction requirements, permitting requirements, and other considerations.
- Reviews lessons learned from past projects and makes recommendations into future designs, specifications, standards and design guidelines where appropriate.
- Responsible for the performance management and career development of staff including, coaching, mentoring, and motivating staff in the fulfillment of responsibilities.
- Evaluates performance of all assigned internal resources, consultants, and engineering contractors as required to ensure the quality, cost effectiveness, and timeliness of work associated with their assigned responsibilities.

Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to : understand, remember and apply oral and / or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate / explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
