OVERVIEW
En Avant Academy of Dance is seeking a warm, dependable, and encouraging dance instructor who is exceptional at connecting with young and beginning dancers.
This position is ideal for someone who understands that successful early dance education requires more than demonstrating steps. We are looking for a teacher who can create joyful, well-managed classes while helping children build confidence, coordination, musicality, classroom independence, and healthy foundational technique.
WEEKLY SCHEDULE
Applicants should be available for both weekly teaching blocks:
- Tuesdays, 4:30–7:45pm
- Thursdays, 4:00–6:25pm
Classes include:
- Recreational Tap Jazz
- Pre-Kinderdance Ballet Tap
- Kinder Discovery with rotating dance styles
- Kinderdance Ballet Tap
- Ballet Tap 1
- Jazz 1
The 2026–2027 season begins August 31, 2026 and continues through June 2027.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead engaging, developmentally appropriate classes for young and beginning dancers
- Teach foundational ballet, tap, jazz, creative movement, and classroom skills
- Create a positive, structured environment where dancers feel safe, encouraged, and successful
- Follow En Avant’s curriculum and skill-progressive teaching expectations
- Prepare age-appropriate choreography for studio performances and the annual recital
- Communicate professionally with the studio director, staff, dancers, and families
- Arrive prepared and maintain dependable weekly attendance throughout the season
QUALIFICATIONS
- Well-rounded dance training with knowledge of ballet, tap, and jazz fundamentals
- Experience teaching dance or working successfully with children, particularly ages 3–10
- Patient, energetic, encouraging, and confident managing a classroom
- Able to adapt instruction for different ages, personalities, and learning needs
- Dependable transportation to Burlington and the ability to commit consistently throughout the season
Previous dance-teaching experience is preferred. We will also consider candidates with strong dance training and meaningful experience working with children who are ready to grow as instructors.

Our studio is located at 412 E. Fairhaven Avenue in Burlington, approximately 20 minutes south of Western Washington University.
