Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos)

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in Long Island City, NY. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures
Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material
Clean, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS system
Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager

Requirements:
Minimum requirement High School Diploma or equivalent
Bachelor’s Degree in or related science is a plus
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training 
Some laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting 
0 to 1 years' experience performing PLM/TEM/PCM analysis
Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude
Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance

Available Shifts:
Position is full time, Monday to Friday 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. 
Training to start will be Tuesday to Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

Position is full time, Sunday to Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 
Training to start will be Monday to Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
