This role operates scale and computer systems, ensures proper documentation of transactions, provides clear direction to customers and drivers, and supports site safety and inventory control. Strong customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Summary
The Scale Operator / Weighmaster is responsible for accurately weighing, grading, and recording all incoming and outgoing scrap metal materials. This role operates scale and computer systems, ensures proper documentation of transactions, provides clear direction to customers and drivers, and supports site safety and inventory control. Strong customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers while providing guidance on material verification, sorting, and disposal procedures.
- Weigh and ticket incoming and outgoing loads using automated or Weighmaster software systems.
- Create accurate, timely, and compliant tickets for all transactions.
- Properly grade incoming materials and monitor loads for quality assurance and acceptable commodities.
- Direct vehicle and foot traffic on and off the scale to maintain safe and efficient flow.
- Process inspection tickets and support inventory control procedures.
- Retrieve, review, and manage data using computer systems and software.
- Monitor and maintain the radiation detection system.
- Communicate with yard staff regarding incoming and outgoing materials.
- Report load discrepancies or quality issues to the Site or Depot Manager.
- Stay current with industry trends, site procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
