About The Opportunity
As an Industrial Technician at EMR, you’ll play a key role in our daily operations at our New Orleans, LA site. In this role, you’ll be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment within a high-volume metal recycling facility. This role ensures all electrical components—including shredders, conveyors, balers, and sorting systems—operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical components to minimize downtime.
Diagnose issues using electrical testing devices, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and thermal imaging tools.

Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, machinery, and equipment used in metal recycling operations.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical components to minimize downtime.
Diagnose issues using electrical testing devices, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and thermal imaging tools.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or technical training in electrical systems.
- Licensed Electrician (Journeyman or Master preferred, depending on state requirements).
- Minimum 3–5 years of industrial electrical experience (heavy industry or recycling environment preferred).
- Strong understanding of electrical systems up to 480V or higher.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics.
- Experience in metal recycling, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems (for equipment troubleshooting).
- Familiarity with automated sorting systems and sensor-based equipment.
- Arc flash training and NFPA 70E certification.
