SUMMARY
A Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) supports the treatment of clients who are struggling with addiction and may perform a variety of tasks to provide clients with the best possible care. Must understand the treatment program, record client behavior, and provide a safe, supportive environment for clients and peers. May assist in daily activities, whether therapeutic or recreational. To be successful in this role, a BHT needs to have good communication skills and a positive attitude towards clients and other staff members.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Overseeing clients who are attending PHP/IO/OP services.

Maintain professional boundaries with staff and clients.

Refrain from sponsoring clients, and sharing personal contact info such as cell phone number, address etc. Always direct these scenarios to our alumni program.

Maintain client rights and client confidentiality at all times.

Convey clients’ needs to medical, clinical, and other operations staff.

Shift responsibilities:
-
Prepare office for next day.
-
Handoff of client care as needed to appropriate staff.
-
Ensuring shift notes and rounds are completed for shift change handoff.

Completes client intake and discharge process efficiently while ensuring documentation is accurate.

Conduct searches of clients if needed.
-
Completes timely client rounds and save to client file.
-
Supervise telehealth calls. May assist with supervising personal calls. Report any potential AMA/ACA risk to the treatment team.

Support client treatment goals as identified by the treatment team while monitoring clients conduct throughout each day providing guidance in a supportive and empathetic manner while exercising good judgement.

Address problems in the community through verbal de-escalation techniques.

Participates in crisis intervention and conflict resolution actions, including suicide assessments, partner abuse, child, and elder abuse screening; responds appropriately to resolve crisis situations; implements mandatory reporting procedures in accordance with regulations (including HIPAA) and policies.

Immediately report any crisis or serious concerns to appropriate staff.

Utilize incident report to document any incidents when on duty following professional protocol.

Escort clients to their scheduled groups and/or transport clients to their off-site appointments.

Participates in client activities, ensuring safe surroundings while always keeping clients within eyesight.

Encourage and model healthy lifestyle choices to promote overall wellness.

Maintain cleanliness within the entire facility and completing cleaning logs. Such as but not limited to;

Maintain proper chain of command.

Attend and participate in all staff meetings/in service training.

Complete all other duties as directed by leadership.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- 2 years’ addiction treatment center experience preferred
- 2 years’ PHP/IOP/OP experience preferred
- First Aid/CPR/AED certified on first day of placement in role
- Maintains a current Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training.
- A valid Motor Vehicle License
