Who We Are Looking For:
Empower Schools of Alabama is on the lookout for a dynamic and driven Upper School Principal to join our skillful
leadership team. We are seeking a dedicated educational leader who is passionate about fostering academic excellence,
nurturing student growth, and building a positive, inclusive community. The ideal candidate will have experience
supporting learners in grades 5-8 and be responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the upper
school, overseeing everything from curriculum alignment and faculty supervision to student life and parent engagement.

Supervises: Instructional Staff, including Teachers and Instructional Aides
Start Date: July 1, 2026
Salary Range: $86K - 108K
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and strategic direction for all academic and co-curricular programs within the upper school.
Recruit, hire, supervise, evaluate, and foster the professional development of all upper school faculty and staff.
Oversee curriculum implementation, instructional quality, and assessment to ensure academic excellence and alignment with the school's mission.
Responsible for coaching teachers on instructional delivery and methods;
Assist Executive Director in developing staff development programming;
Responsible for managing student data systems;
Assist in administration of scheduling and standardized assessments;
Assist Executive Director in the development of school created assessments;
Serve as liaison to parents and facilitate parent education and involvement, including reinforcing the need for parents to support the school’s policies and practices for student discipline, dress code, homework, and events;
Assist in making formal reports to the board of trustees and charter entity on student academic performance.
Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive school culture that promotes student well-being, character development, and a love for learning.
Manage the upper school's daily operations, including budget planning, master scheduling, and student discipline policies.
Serve as the primary communicator and build strong, collaborative relationships with students, parents, faculty, and the broader community.
Qualifications:
Graduate degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction or other related field;
A valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate in the field of School Administration/Educational Leadership;
Minimum 5 years of successful teaching and/or leadership experience, including documented instances of student academic, social, and emotional success;
Preferred Candidate: Minimum of 3 years of successful school principal experience
Demonstrated organizational skills;
Demonstrated ability in data management and presentation;
Exhibited leadership in working with professional staff, students, and the community;
Agreement with the academic goals and philosophy of the Empower Community School;
Commitment to accountability, including a rigorous student testing regime;
Demonstrated success in encouraging parental involvement.
