JOB DESCRIPTION
The Biomass Team Lead, employed by HR MGMT 10 LLC as the Employer of Record, will work on-site at one of our brand partners' cannabis production facilities. This role is responsible for overseeing a team involved in the preparation and processing of cannabis biomass, ensuring that all activities meet the brand partner’s quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The Biomass Team Lead will work closely with the Production Supervisor to manage daily operations, optimize processing efficiency, and maintain compliance with state and local regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in biomass handling within the cannabis industry or a similar regulated environment, strong leadership skills, and a focus on quality and process improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:
Biomass Processing Team Leadership:
- Lead and supervise a team of biomass processing staff in daily operations, ensuring adherence to the brand partner’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality standards.
- Assist in developing and implementing processing schedules to meet daily and weekly output targets while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
- Monitor biomass processing workflows, provide guidance to team members, and make adjustments as needed to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- Conduct daily team meetings to communicate processing goals, safety updates, and any changes to SOPs or regulatory requirements.
Quality Control and Compliance:
- Ensure all biomass preparation and processing activities comply with state and local cannabis regulations, as well as the brand partner’s quality standards.
- Conduct routine quality checks on biomass materials to ensure consistency, proper moisture content, and cleanliness.
- Maintain accurate records of biomass processing activities, including batch records, equipment logs, and quality control checks as directed by the Production Supervisor.
- Assist in preparing for internal and external audits, ensuring all documentation and practices align with regulatory and brand partner requirements.
Training and Development:
- Train and mentor biomass processing staff on SOPs, safety protocols, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality in biomass handling and processing.
- Provide feedback to team members on performance and assist in identifying opportunities for skill development and growth.
- Promote a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Process Improvement:
- Collaborate with the Production Supervisor and Quality Assurance team to identify areas for process improvement and implement effective solutions.
- Support initiatives to enhance biomass processing workflows, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency in the biomass department.
Safety and Hazard Management:
- Ensure adherence to all safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), fire safety protocols, and hazardous material handling procedures.
- Participate in safety inspections and drills to maintain a safe working environment for all biomass processing staff.
Coordination and Communication:
- Coordinate with the Production Supervisor, inventory teams, and other departments to ensure adequate supply of raw materials and efficient biomass processing flow.
- Provide regular updates to the Production Supervisor on processing metrics, team performance, and any issues affecting biomass handling.
- Address processing-related questions or concerns from team members and other departments, providing guidance and support as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or certification in agriculture, horticulture, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in biomass handling, cannabis processing, or a similar role within the cannabis or agricultural industries.
- Strong understanding of biomass processing, regulatory requirements, and quality control standards.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams in a fast-paced production environment.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in production management software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 21 years old.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required state-specific certifications for cannabis production.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks typical of a biomass processing environment.
