SGM's is seeking a Construction Manager to join our Glenwood Springs office! The ideal candidate has the desire to live, work, and play in Western Colorado. A Construction Manager Plans, operates at the highest level of firm leadership, bringing additional experience and wisdom to the skills of a Construction Manager. Works with the firm Design Staff and project inspectors to identify design defects or deficiencies in plans and specifications and pass along "lessons learned" in past projects. Recognized as an expert both internally and externally. Identifies Field Engineering opportunities and develops proposals to generate new work. Manages small to large complex construction projects from start to completion. Knows CDOT and other Local Agency processes.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Regularly develops project scopes/budgets.
- Leads critical, high-profile competitive proposal efforts.
- Manage scope, budget, schedule (without oversight) for many projects, including large, multi-disciplinary types.
- Significant focus on project planning, directing, reviewing, etc.
- CAD time is almost non-existent.
- Role is to make others successful and lend assistance during critical project execution events. May serve as Expert Witness.
- Serve as designated SGM client service manager, responsible for relationship-building with key, high-profile clients.
- Demonstrate capacity to maintain very long-term relationships (10 years).
- Able to resolve all resolvable conflicts with clients.
- May serve as a Team Leader or have a direct report.
- Frequently lead and assist with prospective new client relationship building.
- Regularly lead or assist with development and promotion of new services.
- Regularly lead "thought leadership" activities and Team/Sector BD plans and strategies.
Other Responsibilities:
- Inspection and documentation of contractor’s work for conformance with the construction documents, including but not limited to: daily reports, quantity tracking, memos to contractors, change orders, and civil rights compliance.
- Monitor and document contractor’s work for compliance with project safety standards, including maintenance of traffic and environmental compliance.
- Review contract documents, project plans & specifications, and assist in progress reports.
- Track pay quantities for the preparation monthly contractor progress payments.
- Attend and participate in weekly project status meetings with the contractor.
- Prepare punch list.
- Monitor and document completion of punch list work.
- Perform and document final inspections.
- Prepare red-lined as-built drawings.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature as assigned.
