JOB SUMMARY:
The CTRS Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Provides group and one-to-one therapeutic recreation to all residents including those with Alzheimer Disease and other dementia-related disorders. Monitors performance of Senior Therapeutic Recreation Assistants, Therapeutic Recreation Assistant and Transporters. Provides training when needed.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitates the therapeutic recreation programs by assisting residents during group activities, following the activity schedule, and providing assistance with transportation for residents during recreation activities.
- Maintains documentation in a neat and legible manner and meets established department deadlines for recording documentation.
- Deals appropriately with the special needs of residents and their families.
- plans, organizes and assists residents in field trips on a monthly basis.
- Assists Manager in overseeing the work of Senior Therapeutic Recreation Assistants.
- Assists Manager in training of department staff and attends necessary meetings.

of the work group, residents, families and volunteers.
- Sensitivity to the needs of the elderly.
- Demonstrates leadership abilities.
- Knowledge of documentation such as initial assessments, MDS, RAPS, progressive notes and
care plans
Licenses/Certifications:
- Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist preferred
