Empire Building Materials is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Class A CDL Flatbed Truck Driver to join our team. This full-time position is responsible for safely delivering building materials while providing excellent customer service. Established in 1954, Empire Building Materials is a leading wholesale distributor serving retail lumber yards and home centers throughout Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Washington. Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class A flatbed tractor-trailer to transport and deliver building materials.
- Safely load, organize, and secure flatbed loads using straps, chains, and chain binders in accordance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
- Read and verify manifests, delivery invoices, and shipping documents to ensure accurate deliveries.
- Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers.
- Complete and maintain accurate DOT logs, delivery records, and other required documentation.
- Verify orders and report shortages, damages, or delivery concerns.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and warehouse or yard operations as needed.
- Operate a forklift safely.
- Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, and team members.
- Comply with all DOT regulations and company safety policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL with an acceptable driving record.
- Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
- Ability to accurately read and complete manifests, delivery invoices, shipping documents, and other required paperwork.
- Basic math skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience using electronic logging devices (ELDs), or the ability to learn.
- Must meet all DOT requirements, including maintaining a valid CDL, current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate, and eligibility to pass DOT-required drug and alcohol testing.
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 100 pounds on occasion.
- Sit for periods of four hours or more while operating a commercial vehicle.
- Push and pull trailer doors and equipment weighing more than 100 pounds.
- Use straps, chains, and chain binders to safely secure loads.
- Occasionally climb onto trailers to organize and separate customer orders.
- Bend, twist, stoop, kneel, and crouch while loading, unloading, inspecting equipment, or performing minor maintenance on trucks and trailers.
- Work safely in a variety of weather and environmental conditions.

Drivers have daily contact with customers and are expected to represent Empire Building Materials in a professional and courteous manner. Successful candidates must consistently demonstrate excellent communication skills, courtesy, discretion, sound judgment, and a commitment to outstanding customer service.
