The Role
We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our financial operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of our accounting processes. This role is responsible for managing key aspects of payroll accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and period-end close activities. The ideal candidate is an innovative, data-driven professional with a passion for financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and growth.
What You’ll Do
- Financial Reporting & Period-End Close: Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including general ledger review and preparation of close reports. Prepare and maintain reconciliation reports to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Payroll Accounting: Reconcile, code, and upload payroll data; provide variance analysis to the Accounting Manager. Prepare payroll-related journal entries and reports in a timely and accurate manner.
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
- Cash & Expense Management: Maintain petty cash and the Emotiv check log, as applicable. Prepare payment requests for recurring standard expenses.
- Journal Entries & Interfaces: Perform weekly system interfaces and journal entries; investigate and resolve discrepancies or errors.
- Planning & Forecasting Support: Provide financial data and analysis to support the Business Plan and Reforecast processes.
- Departmental Collaboration & Compliance: Foster a professional and collaborative work environment within the Finance Department and across other teams. Ensure adherence to all company policies, procedures, and financial controls. Maintain documentation of all accounting activities as required.
- Safety & Other Duties: Comply with company emergency evacuation procedures to ensure workplace safety. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the automotive industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
- Experience working with computerized accounting systems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information related to products, services, and internal processes.
- Normal amount of sitting and standing, average mobility to move around an office and plant environment, able to conduct normal amount of work on a computer.
