What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prep Cook position at Emmy Squared Pizza?
Known for our Detroit-Style pizza, served with a side of Brooklyn Soul, Emmy Squared is a growing restaurant group with locations across multiple states and more on the way. We’ve earned loyal fans (and a few awards!) for our crispy Frico crusts, delicious burgers, and welcoming neighborhood vibe.
As a Prep Cook, you’ll play a key role in setting the kitchen up for success. From dough production to daily prep, you’ll ensure our ingredients are handled with care, consistency, and attention to detail. Your work behind the scenes keeps service running smoothly and our standards high.
What You’ll Do:
• Prepare specific food items according to Emmy Squared recipes, ensuring consistency, quality, and accuracy
• Portion and package dough for storage and future use
• Set up and maintain assigned kitchen workstations
• Maintain kitchen sanitation in accordance with health department guidelines
• Follow safe food handling procedures at all times
• Store food properly and safely, labeling and dating all items
• Use facility supplies and equipment responsibly to minimize waste and loss
• Keep work areas neat and clean; maintain and clean equipment used in food preparation
• Report necessary equipment repairs and maintenance to management
• Support the back-of-house team with additional duties as assigned
What You Bring:
• Minimum 1 year experience as a prep cook in a full-service restaurant (previous dough experience strongly preferred)
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize responsibilities effectively
• Calm, professional demeanor under pressure
• Ability to produce high volumes of work while maintaining Emmy Squared quality standards
• Strong attention to food safety and sanitation practices
• Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
• Ability to lift/carry up to 35 lbs., push/pull up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods with frequent bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
• Comfort using culinary tools and commercial kitchen equipment
