What are the responsibilities and job description for the CDL Tanker Driver position at Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc.?
This position is for our construction projects in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Must be willing to travel if not local!
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely operate a tractor trailer tanker in a manner that reduces risk and liabilities.
- Transport fuel, water, and other liquid materials in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
- Load, unload, and handle liquid products using proper pumping equipment and procedures.
- Ensure proper securement and handling of liquid loads to prevent spills or contamination.
- Perform and properly document pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to ensure they are in a safe and legal condition.
- Maintain accurate records of trip details, including mileage, fuel consumption, product volumes, and hours worked.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, project managers, and other team members to coordinate delivery schedules in a direct and friendly manner.
- Always adhere to Emery Sapp & Sons safety policies and procedures.
- Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on the truck and trailer when necessary.
- Assist with loading and unloading operations at job sites and facilities as needed.
- Occasional heavy lifting.
- Work primarily in and around the Muskogee, OK area, with some travel as required.
- Accurately navigate a tractor trailer using instructions, maps, or GPS, to a wide variety of locations both on road and off.
- Properly wear and safely use PPE.
- Properly record hours worked using an ELD in compliance with Hours of Service regulations.
- Document product pickups and deliveries.
- Ensure accuracy of product type, quantity, and delivery location.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement (no restrictions preferred).
- Valid DOT Med Cert with Non-Excepted Interstate self-certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience hauling liquids (fuel, water, or similar products) preferred.
- Experience with tanker operations, including pumping systems and liquid load management required.
- Hazardous Materials endorsement on CDL preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and best practices for liquid transport.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to fuel and liquid hauling.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Basic mechanical skills for minor truck and trailer maintenance.
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to read, understand and navigate using paper and/or digital maps.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
