Medicaid Data Analyst

Role Overview: The Medicaid Database Analyst will be responsible for analyzing, interpreting, and reporting on Medicaid-related healthcare data to support policy, operational decision-making, and program evaluation within the State of Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA).

What You Will Do:

• Analyze Medicaid claims, eligibility, provider, and encounter data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI or Tableau to deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.
• Write complex SQL and SAS queries, and use Python for data manipulation, analysis, and automation.
• Ensure all work complies with HIPAA regulations and state/federal data governance standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and leadership to define data needs and deliver analytics solutions.
• Support special projects, audits, and federal reporting initiatives, including CMS submissions and performance metrics.

What You Will Bring:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analysis, preferably with Medicaid or healthcare claims data
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL and SAS (data querying, cleansing, and transformation)
• Proficiency in Python for data manipulation and automation
• Minimum of 3 years of experience using Power BI or Tableau for building dashboards and reports
• Deep understanding of Medicaid data, claims processing, eligibility, and encounter data
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, data governance, and federal/state healthcare reporting standards
• Excellent data storytelling and presentation skills (ability to translate analytics into actionable insights)
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
• Experience working with state or federal healthcare agencies (e.g., AHCA, CMS, Medicaid)

Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with Medicaid Managed Care, LTSS, or Waiver Programs
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) for data storage/analytics
• Exposure to machine learning models or predictive analytics for forecasting and risk stratification
• Familiarity with federal reporting requirements (e.g., CMS submissions, performance metrics)
