Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant / Bookkeeper to manage our financial records and ensure accurate reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, proficiency with various accounting software, and experience in both corporate and non-profit accounting environments. This role involves maintaining general ledger accounts, reconciling financial statements, preparing financial reports, and supporting budgeting and tax processes to ensure compliance with GAAP standards. Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare and record journal entries accurately using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Perform general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliation, and account analysis to ensure financial accuracy.
- Maintain detailed records of financial transactions following double entry bookkeeping principles.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including financial report writing and account reconciliations.
- Support budgeting activities by analyzing financial data and preparing relevant reports.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and governmental accounting regulations where applicable.
- Handle payroll processing and tax-related tasks, including preparation of tax filings as needed.
- Conduct internal audits to verify the accuracy of financial data and identify discrepancies or irregularities.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial records.
Experience
- Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles within corporate, non-profit, or governmental sectors.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles, double entry bookkeeping, bank reconciliation, and general ledger management.
- Experience with financial concepts including account reconciliation, journal entries, account analysis, budgeting, and financial report writing.
- Familiarity with governmental accounting standards and tax regulations is preferred.
- Ability to perform 10 key typing accurately for data entry tasks.
- Prior experience in public accounting or technical accounting is advantageous but not mandatory.
