What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cost Accountant position at Emerge?
The Cost Accountant is responsible for all areas of cost accounting including actual and standard cost calculations, analyzing cost variances including labor, yield, variable and fixed overhead rates. Perform month end close in local ERP system "OCHMS”. Cost accountant is also the local business process owner "BPO” of OCHMS, including set up, training and support of lot trace programs.

Core Accounting Functions
- Calculate department overhead rates
- Calculate actual and standard costs (direct material, direct labor, and overhead)
- Analyze cost variances and work with operations to recommend standard cost changes to Plant Manager, Controller, and leadership
- Analyze direct material cost changes (raw materials, outside services, WIP) and update ERP accordingly
- Report on actual business unit profitability and absorption
- Update LIFO department rates
- Perform pre-close and month-end close in local ERP system "OCHMS" for inventory, cost, and Oracle locations G4X and G4Y
- Analyze all cost movements in "OCHMS" including revaluations, physical inventory adjustments, and inventory movements
- Monitor daily auto-relief of finished goods and perform adjustments as needed
- Analyze and distribute monthly cost reports
- Update ACCESS with month-end inventory values (for SSRS daily emails)
- Serve as Business Process Owner (BPO) of "OCHMS" including setup, training, and support
- Provide support to manufacturing areas on all Lot Trace programs
- Test and implement changes to "OCHMS" (Cost, Q&A, FB, Inventory, & Lot Trace modules)
- Monitor and provide support for shop floor labor reporting
- Maintain "OCHMS" Lot Trace security and perform quarterly reviews
- Perform annual BPO review of the BIA score
- Work with Application Specialists (Lot Trace, Cost, and EDW)
- Maintain internal controls—specifically in inventory and segregation of duties within ERP
- Assist with physical inventories
- Create, review, and approve activity instructions
- Assist with preparation of budgets and forecasts
- Perform job duties in a safe and efficient manner
- Maintain high attendance record
- Business travel may be required
- Perform other work-related duties as necessary
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (required)
- CPA, CMA, or progress toward certification (preferred)
- 3-5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Standard cost updates, variance analysis, and inventory accounting
- Month-end close processes
- Supporting or owning modules in an ERP system (preferably manufacturing-focused)
- Internal controls, segregation of duties, and audit support
- Lot traceability or regulated manufacturing environments (preferred)
- Ability to become the Business Process Owner (BPO) for cost, inventory, and lot trace modules in a manufacturing ERP system
