Senior Database Engineer (Oracle Cloud / PostgreSQL)
Hybrid | Northeast Ohio (Must live in NE Ohio)

hands-on Database Adminstrator / Engineer who can operate at the intersection of production support, development, and data engineering.
This is not a traditional DBA role. It’s for someone who understands how data actually moves through a business and can support both live production systems and active development work in a modern cloud environment.
What You’ll Own Senior Database Engineer (Oracle Cloud / PostgreSQL)
- Support and stabilize production databases while partnering closely with development teams
- Help design and build new tables, schemas, and data structures
- Manage data retention, purge processes, and audit trails across very large datasets
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues and performance challenges
- Build utilities and processes to move, process, and report on data
- Play a key role in how data flows through critical business systems
Environment as a enior Database Engineer (Oracle Cloud / PostgreSQL)
- Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) – primary platform (~85%)
- PostgreSQL / SQL still in the mix
- High-volume environment handling billions of records
- Mix of legacy modern systems (not a greenfield, not outdated either)
Key Projects / Focus as a enior Database Engineer (Oracle Cloud / PostgreSQL)
- Rebuilding and improving audit trail capabilities (tracking old vs. new values)
- Designing data retention and compliance processes
- Supporting both transactional and configuration data models
- Exposure to AI-related initiatives tied to data and audit processes
Tools & Skills
- Strong SQL fundamentals (querying, performance tuning, data modeling)
- Experience in Oracle (cloud preferred) and/or PostgreSQL
- Scripting: Shell, Perl, or similar
- Tools like SQL Developer, DBeaver, JetBrains, etc.
Nice to Have
- Data warehouse exposure
- Data lifecycle / governance experience
- Reporting tools like Power BI
Team Setup
- Reports into a senior technical leader
- Works alongside:
- Data warehouse lead
- Offshore support resource
- This role is a key bridge between dev, ops, and data
Work Setup
- Hybrid (approx. 2 days onsite)
- Light on-call (about 1 weekend per quarter)
