Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Emergency Room Mid-Level provider to join our fast-paced, high-energy healthcare team. Duties
- Perform thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history intake to determine acuity levels and prioritize care through effective triage.
- Administer medications, including injections such as botulinum toxin treatments when indicated, and manage acute pain using evidence-based protocols.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations utilizing EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner; order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostics to inform clinical decisions.
- Provide emergency interventions such as airway management, ventilator support, IV infusions, catheterizations, and basic life support procedures aligned with critical care standards.
- Document all patient encounters meticulously in electronic health records (EHR), ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and accurate coding using ICD-10/ICD-9 codes for billing and data collection purposes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, including post-acute care arrangements, hospice & palliative medicine considerations, and patient education.
- Engage in clinical research or clinical trials related to emergency medicine or infectious disease care to advance evidence-based practices within the department.
Qualifications
- Valid license as a Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA), or equivalent mid-level provider with current certification to practice in an emergency or acute care setting.
- Demonstrated experience in emergency room environments or urgent care settings with proficiency in triage, acute pain management, and critical care procedures.
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with telehealth platforms is a plus.
- Experience with hospital-based procedures including suturing, dermal fillers (nice-to-have), and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform comprehensive physical examinations and interpret diagnostic data accurately.
- Knowledge of healthcare diagnosis coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding for procedures, and drug enforcement regulations (DEA).
- Excellent communication skills for patient assessment, education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Prior experience working within Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable; ICU or critical care experience is preferred.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development through clinical research participation or clinical trials related to emergency medicine.
