Responsibilities
- Conduct rapid patient assessments to determine severity and prioritize treatment based on triage protocols.
- Perform emergency procedures such as airway management, suturing, and basic life support to stabilize patients.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic to document clinical findings, treatment plans, and discharge instructions accurately.
- Interpret diagnostic imaging including CT scans and radiographs to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Collaborate with specialists across disciplines such as cardiology, neurology, psychiatry, and trauma medicine for comprehensive patient care.
- Manage acute pain and facilitate appropriate interventions for trauma or medical emergencies in the ER setting.
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations and hospital policies while maintaining patient confidentiality and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution with valid licensure to practice medicine.
- Board certification or eligibility in Emergency Medicine or relevant specialty areas such as Critical Care or Trauma Medicine.
- Proven experience working in an emergency room environment, preferably within a Level I or Level II trauma center.
- Proficiency with EMR systems including Epic and other digital diagnostic tools such as CT and radiography interpretation.
- Strong skills in airway management, vascular access procedures, and acute care protocols.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and clinical evaluation techniques essential for rapid decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure while coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
