Senior Chimney and Fireplace Service Technician

Ember Keepers: Chimney and Fireplace is hiring a Senior Service Technician to lead complex diagnostics and repairs, mentor developing technicians, and help improve the systems that support safe, consistent work.

What you will do

- Lead complex chimney and fireplace diagnostics and repairs, including rebuilds, relining, gas systems, and video inspections

- Own service work from diagnosis through documentation, customer communication, and completion

- Train, coach, and sign off apprentices and junior technicians within company authorization

- Spot risks, protect the customer's home, and uphold workmanship and safety standards

- Contribute to standard operating procedure improvements

- Support purchasing and field-material decisions

- Help the service team reduce callbacks and deliver consistent customer experiences

What we are looking for

- Demonstrated experience in chimney, fireplace, hearth, masonry, HVAC, gas, or closely related service work

- Strong diagnostic judgment and a record of safe, high-quality workmanship

- Ability to teach, coach, and hold others accountable with clarity and respect

- Professional customer communication and accurate documentation

- Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company-vehicle requirements

- Able to perform the essential physical duties of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation

- CSIA and NFI Gas certifications are preferred

Compensation

- Expected annual earnings range from $48,000 to $120,000, based on experience, certifications, production, sales, and eligible bonuses

- Compensation includes base pay plus eligible performance bonuses, sales commissions, and inspection bonuses under the Ember Keepers performance-pay plan

- Actual earnings within the range are not guaranteed and depend on eligible work performed, sales credited to the employee, and job profitability

This is a full-time position based in the Boone, NC area and serving customers across western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee, including the Johnson City market.
