Direct Caregiver/Personal Supports | Respite On-call for Energetic, fun, active, outgoing 33yr old Male with special needs: Cerebral Palsy, Hearing and Speech delay, intellectual disability in (Fort Washington Md)

We are seeking compassionate, energetic caregivers to provide 1:1 support for a vibrant and outgoing 33-year-old male with cerebral palsy, hearing and speech delays, and spasticity. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on making a difference and encouraging growth, inclusion, and confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

Advocate for and encourage the client’s growth, confidence, and inclusion.
Assist with personal care reminders and accompany the client to the restroom.
Support daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, hygiene, brushing teeth, toileting, wiping, meal preparation, and physical transfers as needed.
Accompany and assist at daily activities, including walks, gym visits, bike rides, and other outings, while making modifications as needed.
Safely transport the client, along with their walker and/or wheelchair, to activities and appointments.
Communicate effectively verbally and written with the client, helping them articulate and strengthen their needs, concerns, and desires despite speech differences.
Encourage and assist the client in using all communication devices to express themselves.
Expand the client’s communication skills by reiterating and discussing their daily schedule in advance and after activities to promote quality conversations.
Accompany the client to medical, personal care appointments and advocate on their behalf.
Implement behavioral intervention strategies when needed.
Provide a safe, engaging, supportive and inclusive environment for the client.

Qualifications:

CNA certification is helpful but not required.

MANDT training is helpful
Self starter. Confident and poised. Ability to articulate on the behalf of others professionally.

Must be able to lift/support 50 lbs and assist with physical transfers.

CPR and First Aid certification (in-person training required) or willingness to obtain it.

Reliable transportation with active insurance is required (AWD vehicle preferred but not mandatory), with capacity to transport a walker daily and/or a wheelchair as needed.
Must pass a background check and driver’s license check.

Experience with cerebral palsy, hearing/speech delays, spasticity, proactive behavioral intervention is a plus.

Strong written and verbal communication skills and patience to work through speech differences with the client.

Critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.

Comfortable with physical activity and creative in planning adaptive activities and/or modifying mainstream activities.

Available Positions:

Full-Time: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Part-Time:

Morning: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM
Evening: Monday – Friday, 4:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Saturday: 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM | 9am-5pm

Respite and On-Call Positions are also available as needed.

Location: Fort Washington, MD
