The Regional Director of Clinical Operations oversees clinical performance across SNF's, ensuring high-quality resident care, strong regulatory compliance, and consistent operational standards. The role provides hands-on clinical guidance, supports and mentors nursing leadership, evaluates and strengthens care systems, and drives continuous improvement through data analysis and proactive oversight.
Core Responsibilities:
Evaluate clinical services, documentation, assessments, care planning, and overall care delivery across assigned facilities.
Support DONs and nursing leaders in building consistent systems for QA, staffing, infection control, and regulatory compliance.
Lead survey readiness through mock surveys, targeted reviews, real-time coaching, and oversight of all survey activity.
Manage EDIC/CLASS, guide risk investigations, and ensure timely and accurate submission of Plans of Correction and follow-up items.
Conduct proactive QA audits to identify risks, trends, and gaps in compliance.
Strengthen infection prevention programs, including mentoring and monitoring of infection control staff.
Make regular facility visits to observe care, audit systems, validate performance, and provide hands-on education.
Analyze clinical and operational data to identify patterns, barriers, and improvement opportunities.
Oversee implementation of clinical initiatives and specialty programs based on facility needs.
Maintain updated, compliant policies and procedures aligned with federal and state regulations.
Communicate clear findings and action steps to Administrators, DONs, and regional leadership.
Support nursing leadership development, performance expectations, and team structure.
Promote a culture of accountability, quality outcomes, and professional growth.
Attend OHCA meetings and represent the organization as needed.
Ensure ongoing, consistent survey readiness across all assigned locations.
Perform additional duties as assigned by clinical leadership.
Qualifications:
Active RN license in Ohio. BSN preferred.
Minimum 3 to 5 years of long-term care leadership experience (DON or above).
Proven track record in SNF survey preparation and successful survey outcomes.
Strong understanding of state and federal long-term care regulations.
Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret clinical and operational data.
Strong communication, critical thinking, judgment, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in fast-paced environments and manage multiple priorities.
Systems-focused mindset with the ability to identify and correct breakdowns.
Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and build strong nursing teams.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel between facilities; overnight travel may be required.
Work Environment:
Majority of work occurs inside Toledo-area facilities, with potential for additional locations.
Role is facility-based, not office-based.
Some remote work can be included when appropriate, depending on operational needs.
Schedule may shift based on survey activity, clinical priorities, and facility support requirements.
Regular use of computers, phones, and standard office equipment.
