Job Summary
Elsner Engineering Works, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical and engineering support to our Manufacturing Division. This role focuses on developing workholding solutions, optimizing manufacturing processes, selecting tooling, and evaluating which machine tool is best suited to efficiently complete machining. The goal of this position is to improve efficiency, safety, quality, and throughput.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and recommend improvements to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance product quality
- Analyze production challenges and develop engineering solutions to reduce scrap, rework, and variation
- Prepare or update manufacturing documentation, including routings, work instructions, and standard operating procedures
- Research, evaluate, and select tooling, cutting tools, and accessories to support manufacturing operations
- Assist in identifying, evaluating, and procuring new manufacturing equipment, including preparing specifications and justification documentation
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers during equipment trials, demonstrations, and implementation
- Support the introduction of new designs into manufacturing, ensuring proper tooling, fixturing, and processes are in place
- Work closely with machine shop, assembly, quality, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues and support daily operations (including GD&T support when required)
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean, 5S, and setup reduction activities
- Collect and analyze manufacturing data to identify improvement opportunities
- Assist with equipment installation, validation, and startup activities
- Participate in safety initiatives and ensure compliance with applicable standards and internal procedures
- Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the COO
Education / Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred OR significant progress toward a BS in Engineering
- Prior experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, machining, or production support preferred
Required Skills
- Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software (Inventor preferred)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, fabrication, and assembly
- Strong mechanical aptitude with analytical, conceptual, writing, and math skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage projects through completion
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
