Part Time Facilities Tech I

This position is part time (not to exceed 29 hours per week): Work hours are Monday-Friday from 11AM-5PM

Job Purpose

This position is responsible for supporting the maintenance and operation of facilities on the Els Center of Excellence (ECOE) campus under the supervision and direction of the Facilities Manager to ensure a clean, safe and functional environment for employees and visitors. Facilities Tech I performs tasks related to security, environmental, safety/inspection, custodial and event setup and breakdown. This position requires attention to detail and high-quality standards to be a part of the team responsible for maintaining the campus at optimum levels. Facilities Tech I will work collaboratively with all organizations on campus to respond promptly and accurately to inspection, clean-up, and support requests at the direction of the Facilities Manager.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Performs light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, painting and minor repairs to ensure the facility is in good working order.
• Provides custodial needs of the ECOE
• Provides security for the ECOE in absence of security guard.
• Regularly inspects all ECOE property to include rooftops, mechanical equipment and the like and immediately reports issues or concerns to Facilities Manager.

Set up and Support:

1. Assist in setting up meetings rooms and events, including arranging furniture and equipment as needed
2. May serve as a point of contact for external vendors and contractors when escorts are required
3. Assist with fire alarm or other mechanical testing as assigned

Daily Tasks:

1. Keep exterior areas clean with could include blowing, dusting, pressure cleaning and wiping down benches and trash cans
2. Walk through buildings to inspect for any maintenance and repair issues weekly
3. Complete any work orders on the same day as directed by Facilities Manager

General Tasks:

1. Glass door window cleaning for assigned buildings
2. Cobweb cleaning around all doors for all buildings
3. Dumpster area cleaning quarterly (including surrounding areas)
4. Back up for guard house
5. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

• Must possess a willingness to learn new skills and responsibilities critical to the success of this role
• Ability to complete routine paperwork
• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
• Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
• Demonstrates excellent time-management skills
• Demonstrates excellent rapport with visitors, staff, and families
• Must have good communication and interpersonal skills and familiarity with the Els for Autism Foundation as an organization.
• Must work effectively with and collaborate with the Foundation staff and school staff.
• Self-motivated and takes initiative
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Familiarity with basic maintenance tools and techniques
• Ability to safely lift 50 lbs.

Work Environment

• Ability to work in a variety of settings including office buildings, schools and outside.
• Ability to work some evenings or weekends for specials events as required
• Ability to walk the entirety of the campus, sit, kneel, stand, bend, or climb as needed to complete assigned tasks
