Bilingual School Psychologist

Elmsford Union Free School District is seeking a highly qualified School Psychologist to provide comprehensive psychological services that directly support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional functioning.

The Bilingual (Spanish) School Psychologist will play a critical role in special education eligibility, data-driven intervention planning, and mental health service delivery.

Core Responsibilities: Comprehensive Psychological Evaluations

• Conduct standardized, norm-referenced cognitive, academic, behavioral, and social-emotional assessments.
• Administer and interpret complex psychological instruments (e.g., WISC-V, BASC-3)
• Differentiate between learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, other health impairment and other disability categories
• Write legally defensible, data-rich psychological evaluation reports in both English and Spanish
• Present findings and eligibility determinations at IEP and multidisciplinary team meetings.

Special Education Eligibility & Compliance

• Lead psychological components of IDEA-compliant evaluations and re-evaluations.
• Determine eligibility classifications based on federal and state criteria.
• Create and monitor progress toward IEP Goals for students receiving counseling services
• Ensure all evaluations meet legal, ethical, and procedural standards.
• Serve as the district expert on psychological aspects of special education law.

Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) & Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)

• Conduct formal FBAs using direct observation, data analysis, and hypothesis testing.
• Develop and oversee implementation of individualized BIPs grounded in behavioral science.
• Train staff on fidelity of implementation and monitor intervention effectiveness.

Diagnostic & Clinical-Level Mental Health Services

• Conduct risk assessments for suicide, self-harm, and threats of violence.
• Collaborate with outside clinicians and support referrals for long-term care.

Data Analysis & Intervention Design (MTSS/RTI Leadership)

• Analyze school-wide and individual-level data to design Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
• Use progress monitoring tools to evaluate intervention effectiveness.
• Apply psychological research and statistical reasoning to decision-making processes.

Crisis Response & Threat Assessment

• Lead threat assessments using structured protocols.
• Develop re-entry and safety plans following psychiatric hospitalization or crisis events.

Consultation

• Consult with teachers, administrators, and special education teams on complex cases involving:
• Neurodevelopmental disorders
• Trauma and its impact on learning
• Behavioral escalation patterns
• Provide guidance grounded in psychological theory

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree, C.A.S., or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from an accredited program and valid New York State certification as a School Psychologist required; NYS licensure as a Psychologist preferred.
• Experience in a school setting, preferably elementary, including conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations, writing clear and legally compliant reports, and participating in special education processes (eligibility, IEP development, and progress monitoring).
• Bilingual candidates preferred, but not required
• Strong knowledge of federal and New York State special education laws and regulations, including IDEA and Part 200, as well as experience with Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and MTSS/RTI frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to provide counseling, crisis response, and social-emotional support, along with strong assessment, data analysis, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with diverse student populations, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
