- $64,711.58 - $122,591.66
- Will be updated per ETO CBA Salary Schedule 2026-2027

Summary:
The Elementary Special Education & Tier II Intervention Teacher provides specially designed instruction and targeted academic intervention services for students in grades K–5. This position serves students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) as well as students requiring Tier II intervention supports in reading, writing, and mathematics within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Washington State teaching certification appropriate with endorsement
- Special Education
- Elementary Education
- WSP/FBI background and fingerprint clearance (fee paid by the employee)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and parents
- Ability to create and maintain a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with literacy research
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this position
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education, Literacy, Special Education or a related field
- Experience using progress monitoring tools
- Training in foundational reading and development
Examples of Duties:
This list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary and without notice. Depending upon individual assignments, the teacher performs all or a combination of several of the following duties:
- Work cooperatively and efficiently with administrators, staff, students, and parents
- Develop programs for students with and without developmental disabilities
- Conduction functional vocational evaluations and achievement testing
- Utilize assistive technology in individual student education programs
- Coordinate with the SLP and/or OT/PT and/or psychologist in the provision of specialist services for eligible students
- Meet state and federal requirements and deadlines in processing special education documentation
- Provide for special health care needs of students including personal hygiene and toileting/diapering as necessary
- Deliver small-group and one-on-one reading interventions to students across K–5 grade levels.
- Ability to guide instructional support staff in implementation of reading interaction instruction and oversee effectiveness.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and support staff to identify students in need of reading intervention and align instruction.
- Develop individualized intervention plans based on student data and progress monitoring.
- Track student achievement and maintain accurate records using school-wide data systems.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and strategies for home support.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to school-wide literacy initiatives.
- Experience running data driven intervention cycles.
- Experience providing reading instruction and intervention, preferably in a K–5 setting.
- Knowledge of research-based reading programs and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS).
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and differentiated instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders regarding student focus areas and progress.
- Maintain alertness at all times, in an effort to anticipate and prevent situations that might be unsafe; anticipate and prevent potential escalation of behavior. React promptly to maintain students’ safety.
