What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Linux & Identity) position at Elliot Partnership?
- Senior Systems Engineer – Identity & Linux Security
- New York (Hybrid)
- Highly competitive compensation package
Are you a builder with deep expertise in Linux internals and Identity architecture? An elite technology-driven firm is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to take ownership of its critical authentication platforms. This is not a standard maintenance role; it is an opportunity to architect the bridge between complex legacy infrastructure and modern identity security in a high-performance computing environment.
Responsibilities:
Identity Architecture Modernization – Redesign and modernize the firm’s internal PKI and authentication services, bridging the gap between Kerberos/Active Directory and modern OIDC/OAuth standards.
Linux Security Engineering – Secure the global Linux fleet by designing solutions for insider risk monitoring, privileged access (PAM), and process-level identity.
Deep-dive Troubleshooting – Go beyond standard admin tasks to debug complex OS, kernel, and filesystem issues using advanced diagnostic tools (strace, perf, eBPF).
Tooling & Automation – Design and build proprietary security tooling and automation frameworks from scratch using Python.
What you’ll need:
-
10 years of security focused systems engineering experience.
-
You possess the rare combination of deep Linux expertise AND architectural knowledge of Identity protocols (Kerberos, PKI, OIDC).
-
Linux internals - you understand the OS at a deep level (Kernel, Systemd, Filesystems) and know how to harden it.
-
You don't just use vendor tools; you write code (Python) to solve unique scalability and security challenges.
-
You can effectively communicate complex architectural trade-offs to both software engineers and senior leadership.
Why join them?
-
Solve the hardest problems by working on the complex intersection of legacy scale and modern security.
-
Join a team that values first-principles thinking and academic rigor.
-
Take direct architectural ownership of the systems that secure the firm's core assets.
-
If you’re a visionary engineer who loves rabbit holes and building foundational systems, we’d love to hear from you!
