What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housekeeping/Laundry Aide position at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center?
1. Works alone or with others to effectively clean all interior and exterior areas of the community to include vacuuming, wiping, mopping, polishing, straightening up, stripping, waxing and buffing floors, cleaning soiled areas, etc.
2. Ensure that all areas of the community are safe by adhering to procedures regarding cleaners, equipment and hazardous materials or objects being used and stored, following safety and sanitation procedures to include appropriate disposal of PPE’s, chemicals, etc., Keeping work areas free of hazardous objects such as protruding mob/broom handles, unnecessary equipment, supplies, etc. and promptly reporting any hazardous conditions and equipment and all incidents and accidents to proper personnel.
3. Ensure that cleaning schedules are followed and coordinate of housekeeping services with other departments. Ensure that equipment, supply carts, supply areas and supplies are properly maintained.
4. Maintains safe, clean, orderly and attractive resident rooms to include moving/replacing furniture and assures that residents’ personal items are safeguarded.
5. Perform all functions of laundry services to include collection, counting, sorting, washing, drying, folding, inventory, and distribution of linen and resident personal clothing.
6. Conduct linen inventory, as requested.
7. Maintain the laundry room and all laundry equipment in a clean and orderly manner, following infections control guidelines and cleaning schedules.
8. Ensure that the resident call light cord is within easy reach of the resident at all times.
9. Answers call lights promptly.
10. Observes and reports the following immediately to Supervisor: any incidents/accidents, physical and/or behavioral changes in a resident, grievance or complaint, allegation of abuse, neglect or misappropriation.
11. Works tactfully and cooperatively with residents, families, visitors, and the entire staff throughout the organization and treats all residents fairly, and with kindness, dignity and respect and in compliance with resident rights.
12. Maintain patient health information as required by law.
13. Complete and/or attend all training and education as assigned and as otherwise required by applicable law, rule, or regulations.
14. Adhere to the community's Code of Conduct, Business Ethics policy, HIPAA Privacy and Security policies, Safety Policies, Infection Control policies, department and community policies and procedures, including documentation and reporting responsibilities.
15. Maintain regular attendance, unless excused under the community’s attendance policy, and/or as required under the Family and Medical Leave Act, or as a reasonable accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act, or as excused under other applicable law, with advance notice of absence as required by community policy to the extent permitted by law.
