Responsibilities
- Assist with meal preparation and food production in accordance with dietary guidelines and safety standards
- Serve meals to residents or patients with courtesy, professionalism, and attention to individual dietary requirements
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas, including proper food handling and storage practices
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to workplace safety protocols and PPE use
- Follow manual handling procedures for heavy lifting and safe lifting practices during food transport or equipment use
- Work collaboratively with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to accommodate special diets and nutritional needs
Qualifications
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home, hospital, or food industry settings is highly desirable
- Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and JCAHO perfered but not required.
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment, food preparation techniques, and meal service procedures
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with geriatric patients or individuals with special dietary needs with compassion and professionalism
- Basic math skills for portion control, inventory management, and meal planning
- Physical ability for manual handling tasks including heavy lifting and standing for extended periods
