Job Summary
The CTE Health Science Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in health science pathways that prepare students for postsecondary education and careers in the healthcare field. The teacher will design and implement engaging, standards-based lessons aligned with the Tennessee Career and Technical Education (CTE) Health Science standards. Instruction will emphasize foundational healthcare knowledge, clinical skills, safety practices, and real-world applications.
The teacher will foster a positive and structured classroom environment that promotes student engagement, career readiness, and academic success while supporting the district's commitment to Experience Excellence.
Main Duties and Responsibilities

- Plan and deliver engaging Health Science instruction aligned with Tennessee CTE standards and approved course curricula.
- Develop and implement instructional strategies that promote critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and career readiness in healthcare fields.
- Provide hands-on learning experiences, including simulations, labs, and clinical skill development aligned with industry expectations.
- Utilize a variety of instructional methods, including technology integration, project-based learning, and differentiated instruction, to meet diverse student needs.
- Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments and use data to guide instruction and improve student outcomes.
- Provide timely and meaningful feedback to students and parents regarding academic progress and skill development.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant lab/classroom environment that adheres to health and safety regulations.
- Integrate employability skills, certifications, and career exploration opportunities into instruction.
- Coordinate and support work-based learning experiences, clinical rotations, or industry partnerships as applicable.
- Collaborate with other CTE teachers, school staff, and industry partners to enhance instructional programs and student opportunities.
- Participate in professional development and maintain current knowledge of healthcare practices and CTE instructional strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, certifications, and student competencies.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and program expectations.
- Support school-wide initiatives and participate in faculty meetings, committees, and school events as assigned.
- Follow all district policies, procedures, and state requirements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Health Science, Nursing, Allied Health, or related field.

Required Licenses or Certifications
- Valid Tennessee teaching license with endorsement 720: Health Science 6-12
- Industry certification and/or relevant healthcare experience may be required or preferred.
