Physical Therapist and Sports Performance Specialist

Elite Rehab and Performance
Newport, NC Part Time
POSTED ON 8/3/2026 CLOSED ON 8/15/2026

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Therapist and Sports Performance Specialist position at Elite Rehab and Performance?

Position Overview

Elite Rehab and Performance is seeking a motivated and adaptable professional for a part-time position supporting both our physical therapy and personal training departments. This unique hybrid role is perfect for a licensed physical therapist, physical therapist assistant, or athletic trainer who excels in combining rehabilitation and performance to help clients move better, recover faster, and perform at their best.

This position is ideal for an autonomous clinician who thrives in a dynamic, client-centered environment and is motivated by measurable outcomes. Candidates seeking the pace or structure of a high-volume, insurance-driven practice may find this role less suitable. The successful individual demonstrates strong ownership of their caseload, proactively cultivates client relationships, and recognizes that earning potential is closely tied to client engagement.

Core Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with physical therapists and physical therapist assistants to implement and progress individualized rehabilitation plans for orthopedic and sports populations.
  • Deliver one-on-one and semi-private personal training sessions, prioritizing safety, movement quality, and goal attainment.
  • Conduct initial and follow-up clinical assessments to track client recovery, functional status, and readiness for performance activities.
  • Educate clients regarding injury management, exercise prescription, and adherence to best practices for recovery and prevention.
  • Document all clinical interventions, client interactions, and progress notes in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Consistently track and analyze client progress, adapting treatment and training plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Foster interdisciplinary communication, ensuring seamless transitions between rehabilitation, return-to-play, and performance training phases.
  • Aid in maintaining a professional, organized, and compliant facility environment.
  • Actively engage in strategies to attract new clients and convert leads. This includes cultivating relationships with referral sources (e.g., local physicians, coaches, gyms), participating in community outreach, developing compelling content, and leveraging your professional network to build your personal caseload within the clinic.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) preferred; Athletic Trainer (ATC), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), or equivalent certification considered with relevant clinical experience.
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in physical therapy, exercise science, kinesiology, or related field.
  • Active North Carolina PT License or eligibility to obtain prior to start.
  • Nationally Recognized Personal Training Certification (e.g., CSCS, NASM-CPT, ACSM-CPT) desired.
  • Prior experience in outpatient orthopedic, sports rehab, or transitional performance settings highly desirable.

Please submit your resume, a cover letter detailing your experience in both physical therapy and personal training, and why you're specifically interested in this position.
