Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive HR Assistant with knowledge of U.S. multi-state and Canadian employment laws. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with employment regulations, maintaining accurate HR records, and assisting with HR operations across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate is highly organized, and comfortable working with evolving employment compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining compliance with U.S. federal, multi-state, and Canadian employment laws and HR regulations.
- Support with employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, offboarding, and employee documentation.
- Maintain and audit personnel records to ensure compliance with labor laws and internal policies.
- Assist with monitoring regulatory updates across U.S. states and Canadian provinces and communicate changes to the HR team.
- Prepare HR reports, compliance documentation, and internal audits as required.
- Support benefits administration, including coordination with vendors and employee inquiries.
- Assist with drafting and updating employee policies, handbooks, and HR procedures.
- Coordinate background checks, employment verification, and compliance documentation.
- Provide administrative support for HR initiatives, training, and employee relations matters.
Qualifications
- 2 years of HR administrative or HR assistant experience.
- Working knowledge of U.S. federal employment law and multi-state HR compliance.
- Familiarity with Canadian employment law and provincial regulations is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of HR documentation, compliance processes, and recordkeeping requirements.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
- High level of discretion and professionalism.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting distributed or multi-jurisdictional workforces.
- Knowledge of compliance areas such as wage & hour, leave laws, and workplace policies.
